How to Replace Subaru Car Headlights

Replacing your headlight can be easy if you already have your replacement bulbs ready with gloves, a screwdriver and a panel popper that you can grab at your local auto parts store. All you have to do is follow the steps highlighted below:

Open the hood of your car to expose the components obstructing your headlights. On one side, you will find the windshield washer fluid intake tube; on the other, you will either find the air intake snorkel tube or a plastic cover.

• Use your screwdriver to gently unscrew the rivets and remove the tubes blocking access to the headlight bay through the plastic cover.
• If you drive any of the recent Crosstrek models, you will find a bulb cover in place of the plastic cover. Turn it counterclockwise to remove it like the plastic cover. If you drive a different model, unscrew the plastic cover by turning the cover counterclockwise while pulling outwards to expose a pin holding the bulb in place.
• Release the pin by pushing it in and pulling the bulb out (or by pushing the small Tab button on the side of the connector if you drive a Crosstrek model).
• Using your gloved hands, remove the faded or burned bulb and replace it with the new bulb.
• Use the pin to secure the bulb in place (or use the bulb connector if you drive a Crosstrek model).
• Lock in the plastic cover by turning it clockwise until it holds firm
• Carefully place all the tubes back as before you removed them and connect the battery if you have to remove it to access the plastic cover.
• Once everything is back in place, turn on the headlights to confirm that the replacement was successful.
